Tracing Sass: Plug into reading Revelation from Sci-Fi
Whether it is on a screen, billboard, bus stop or bookstore, Superheroes are everywhere! Likewise, Sci-Fi is also dominating pop culture and often the two overlap. But did you know that they can help us in our reading of the bible? This workshop will engage with the story of the Sun Woman in the book of Revelation through the lenses of Sci-Fi’s Afrofuturism and the character, Anissa, from the Netflix superhero show Black Lightning, while tracing the language of resistance through sass. Sofenna, also known as Sof by friends and family, is 25 years old and has an MA in Theology. Sof believes that God has a huge presence in her life, which He always shows to her in unexpected ways. She works as a freelance tutor, as well as, leading a new church planting project in Germany with her husband, Maik. Sof enjoys taking long walks, reading manga, and sitting by the seaside.
